-The Food

The Christmas ham is a popular dish around the holidays. It is typically made with a breadcrumb and mustard crust or glaze and usually served cold with various mustards on i. e. a piece of Knäckebröd or the wort-flavoured rye bred!

Try out the Sill (pickled herring) in various flavours, Gubbröra (an anchovy mixture), Herring salad, Janssons frestelse (a potato casserole with anchovies, onions and cream) and marinated salmon (Gravlax) served with “Hovmästarsås” a delicious mustard and dill sauce.

Meat balls and Prinskorv (Mini sausages) are other julbord essentials. Have them with Red cabbage salad (cabbage flavoured with vinegar, apples and syrup), and Red beet salad. (red beets, apples and mayonnaise makes this creamy salad)

The Julbord wouldn’t be complete without a shot of Swedish “Snaps” alongside your meal. Snaps is a traditional spirit in various flavours. A very popular softdrink is “Julmust”, only available around the holidays.

 Welcome to the Julbord!
